Concerned Effort
Dr.
Amon Mkoga Foundation is working to improve the human rights for widows and
single mothers in Tabora region. The project started in 2011 with a view to
engage widows and single women in agricultural production in order to increase
their income and food supply at the family level.
The
organization under this unique project sensitized the community members and
provided land for cultivation for the project groups with an assumption that
the project will enable them cultivation and sell the crops to making their
children afford go to school. More than 500 acres of land were provided and
cultivated under the provision of material support from the organization.
The
project also meant to provide scientific agriculture production techniques for
the target group in order to promote efficiency in production and provide
market information and linkage as well as marketing prices. The organization
provides farms for cultivation, post-harvest and food storage facilities, cash
crops seeds and public toilets to promote and attract environment
protection.
The
organization also provided income generation activities training to widows and
single women to enable them get knowledge on how they can establish and run
business as well as to manage their children to go to school.
